Hair Restoration:
Well, one of the most common question in Hair Transplant Surgery is How “Dense
Packing” or “Density
in Hair Transplant Surgery” is possible?
Naturally in one square centimeter of scalp has
around 80 to 90 grafts, on an average it is considered to be 2 hair shafts or
to be precise 1.8 hair shafts in one graft. So it comes to around 140 to 160
hair shafts in one square centimeter. Till we have around 30-40 grafts that
means 80 hair shafts in one square centimeter it is not considered to be Bald.
When we perform Hair
Transplant Surgery maximum what one can put in completely bald area is around 40 to 45 grafts/ square centimeter.
If one try to put more then 40 – 45 grafts in one
square centimeter then Skin Necrosis is common problem. Which can damage Hair
Grafts & results comes opposite then what we expect. Some times to put more number of grafts lot
of people implants hair grafts in perpendicular directions & not natural
hair growth direction which is 30 to 45 degree angulations to SCALP skin. So best Density is 40 to 45 grafts in one
square centimeter. Which is called as dense packing.
